a festival of national cultures was held in Krasnoyarsk / Culture news of Krasnoyarsk and the Krasnoyarsk Territory / Newslab.Ru

On April 9, the student festival of national cultures “Youth of Russia” took place at the cultural center on Vysotnaya in Krasnoyarsk. The event is taking place for the third year in a row and brings together students from colleges and technical schools in the city.

Participants presented the culture of their peoples along with support groups – classmates, friends and relatives. This year, representatives of Evenki, Tuvan, Lezgin, Moldavian, Kyrgyz and Russian cultures took to the stage. During the performances, students told stories of their families, demonstrated traditions of hospitality, national costumes, and also performed songs and dances.

Festival participant Oomat Koldoshov is Kyrgyz by nationality; the guy is now studying at the College of Industry Technologies and Entrepreneurship and is preparing to become a pastry chef. At the festival, he and his support group performed a fiery dance in national costume.

The young man admitted that preparing for the festival took him more than a month and became an important personal experience:

“We prepared for more than a month, the whole team tried to show the culture of their people. This is not just a performance – it is an opportunity to pass on traditions that go from generation to generation. I think it’s important that young guys don’t forget where they come from and what their roots are. It’s always exciting to perform, but we will do everything in our power to get victory,” said Oomat Koldoshov.

Anton Krutov, a student at an agricultural technical school and a future lawyer, presented Russian culture at the festival. From the stage he spoke about the great Krasnoyarsk residents, their role in the development of science, culture and art. After his speech, the guy admitted that thanks to his participation in the gala event, he learned a lot about the history and traditions of his people.

“During preparation, I discovered how diverse Russian costumes are – each region has its own characteristics, its own embroidery, decorations. And such events are really needed, because this is the memory of our roots: if we don’t preserve this, we will not have a future,” said Anton Krutov.

Valeria Avdeeva, director of mass performances at the Cultural Center on Vysotnaya, emphasized that the project was conceived not only as a competition, but also as a space for uniting creative youth:

“We ended up with not just a competitive format, but a big national holiday – the guys behind the scenes help each other, support each other, and share their experiences. Through such events we show how diverse our country is and how important it is to maintain this unity.”

The winner of the festival has already been determined – Aganak Khomushka, Oomat Koldoshov took 2nd place, Sofia Obor – 3rd. The winner of the People's Choice Award was chosen online right during the event: viewers could scan a QR code on the screen and vote for their favorite participant; voting also took place in the Cultural Center group on the VKontakte social network.

It should be noted that the “Youth of Russia” festival is timed to coincide with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and is held within the framework of the municipal program “Promoting the development of civil society in Krasnoyarsk”, aimed at strengthening interethnic and interfaith harmony.
