The ingredients for cozonac, cheaper in 2026. How much do cozonac cost in stores

Cocoa, one of the most important raw materials, saw price increases throughout 2024 due to the poor harvest, which led to a decrease in world production in the main producing countries. Subsequently, the year 2025 saw steep corrections of the order of 60%, as the levels were adjusted following excessive appreciation.

Currently, the evolution of the price of cocoa beans continues to be marked by significant decreases, of approximately 45% since the beginning of the year, XTB analysts explain.

Sugar and butter prices in the European Union also recorded corrections compared to the values recorded in previous years. On the other hand, wheat and eggs are holding above year-ago figures, even as wheat prices continue to trade at historic lows.

What will be the impact on consumers

At this point, there are no indications of any major new price pressures emerging. The evolution of the ingredients needed to prepare the Easter cake is not uniform: while the price of cocoa beans has decreased, other raw materials have remained at the same levels or even had slight increases.

Although the effects of the conflict in the Middle East are already reflected in the costs for fuel or energy, at the moment they have not translated, for now, into a direct increase in the price of ingredients.

Thus, the Easter cake in 2026 could have a slightly lower price than last year's. However, consumers should not expect major discounts on the shelf, given the high demand specific to the period, XTB analysts add.
