Employees of the branch of Rosseti Siberia – Krasnoyarskenergo are equipping power transmission lines with modern devices to more quickly restore power supply to consumers.

Overhead power lines are constantly exposed to natural factors, since they operate all year round, in any weather, explain power engineers. In order to quickly identify places of damage and eliminate them, power engineers install domestically produced short circuit indicators (SCIs) on power lines with a voltage of 6–35 kilovolts.

“In the event of a short circuit on a power line, the device automatically allows you to analyze its parameters and transmit all the necessary information to the control center at the Krasnoyarskenergo Network Control Center. At the same time, a light signal is triggered on the indicator itself, thanks to which it is possible to determine the direction of the damaged area and speed up the determination of the cause,” explained Evgeniy Nor, deputy director for technical issues and chief engineer of the Krasnoyarskenergo branch.

One of these IKZ sets has already been installed in the village of Elita. The work was carried out by power engineers from the high-voltage line service team of the Krasnoyarsk Electric Networks production department.

“These devices especially help us in the dark. The IKZ has a light bulb, which we see and already understand that this particular wire is faulty. This means that we will quickly find the location of the damage and return the light to residents, which they always look forward to,” said Vladislav Schmidt, an electrician for repairing overhead power lines at the Krasnoyarsk Electric Networks production department of the Krasnoyarskenergo branch.

In total, during this year, specialists from the Rosseti Siberia branch – Krasnoyarskenergo plan to install 63 devices, mainly in the Krasnoyarsk urban district. For installation of IKZ, locations will be selected on the longest power lines and power facilities that are difficult to access for inspection.
