Residency 2025. On the places at the pharmacy is the biggest fight

Most of the places put up for competition are for family medicine, increasing compared to last year, and at the opposite pole is pediatric neurology. At the national level, however, the biggest competition is at the pharmacy. Most of the graduates, more than a third, who want to access this stage of training as a doctor are enrolled in the capital.
At the national level, the Residency competition organized by the Ministry of Health will take place in the university centers of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași, Târgu-Mureș and Timișoara and will initially gather 10,147 candidates, down from last year, when there were 10,575 candidates. They will be vying for the 5,079 seats, more than in 2024, when 4,961 seats and 295 posts were up for grabs (237 posts in 2024).
In Bucharest, 3,881 graduates of the faculties of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy will take part in the Residency entrance competition on Sunday at Romexpo, according to a press release from UMF “Carol Davila”, quoted by Agerpres.
In the university center of Bucharest, at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the most candidates, over 37% of the total number of those registered throughout the country, will take the Residency entrance exam, namely 3,881: 2,678 for the field of medicine, 809 for the field of dentistry and 394 for pharmacy.
Resident 2025. Most, registered for places in medicine
At the national level, 6,956 candidates registered for the 4,354 places open to competition in the field of medicine, 1,950 candidates for the 464 places allocated to dental medicine, while 1,241 competitors registered for the 261 places in the field of pharmacy, according to UMF “Carol Davila”.

For his part, university professor Dr. Răzvan Hainăroșie, coordinator of the Residency entrance competition that will take place in the Bucharest University Center and vice-dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UMF “Carol Davila”, emphasized that organizing the competition is a complex endeavor.
“This exam is a large-scale project that requires careful planning and impeccable coordination. The preparation of this competition involves the coordination of a complex team, provided by our University, which works intensively to ensure that everything takes place in optimal conditions for the candidates. All these efforts have a common goal: the creation of a solid and professional organizational framework that will provide candidates with the security, comfort and confidence necessary on the day of an exam that is essential for their professional career. Residency 2025. How the exam is conducted
The competition will take place in the form of a grid test, with 200 questions for each field, lasting 4 hours.
After the expiration of the time allocated to the contest and a 15-minute break, the proofreading will begin in the halls, and candidates will have 24 hours to file appeals. They can concern the contest questions, the correction of papers or the organization of the contest.
Appeals will be answered within 48 hours of their submission. The minimum passing score represents 60% of the maximum score obtained for the 200 questions for each field, of which 50 are simple complement type and 150 are multiple complement type.
Candidates will be able to enter the competition hall where they have been assigned starting at 8:30 a.m., in order to start the competition at 10:00 a.m.
According to the regulation assigned by the Ministry of Health to the competition for entry into the Residency on the spot and post in medicine, dentistry and pharmacy, each candidate paid a fee in the amount of 500 lei, a value similar to that of 2023/2024.
Residency 2025. Most places, in family medicine
At the same time, the occupation of places in the medical specialties will be done in order of the passing score obtained, within the limits of the published places, creating a single classification for each field.
The display of the results will be done only after signing the order of the Ministry of Health confirming the results.
In a top 5 of the number of places put up for competition, by specialty, in the field of medicine are: family medicine – 641 places (555 places / year 2024), internal medicine – 190 places, cardiology – 189 places, anesthesia and intensive care – 180 places and general surgery – 181 places. At the opposite pole are: pediatric neurology – 5 places, sports medicine – 6 places, medical expertise of working capacity – 11 places, pediatric cardiology – 12 places and nuclear medicine – 17 places.
