A Krasnoyarsk resident let a child shoot a rocket launcher and started a fire

8 April 12:10

A resident of Krasnoyarsk was charged with the costs of extinguishing a fire that started after a shot from a signal pistol. This was reported to the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the supervisory authority, in the summer of 2025, a father and his minor son went on vacation to the Bazaikha River. From the shore, they noticed a silhouette on the slope and were afraid that it was a bear. The head of the family decided to be proactive – he took the flare gun “Hunter Signal No. 3” and fired into the air to scare off the animal.

The child really liked the idea and asked his father for permission to shoot himself. The adult agreed. However, at that moment, when the boy was pointing the rocket launcher into the sky, his finger trembled and accidentally pressed the trigger. The charge did not fly up, but directly into the mountainside.

The grass and forest burst into flames instantly. The fire area was 25 thousand square meters. 17 people and 4 pieces of equipment extinguished the fire.

“The instructions for the “Hunter’s Signal” launcher directly say: it is intended only for sending fire signals of distress and attention – by fishermen and hunters. And strictly prohibits use by persons under 18 years of age. The man ignored these rules,” the regional prosecutor’s office said.

The prosecutor's office, as part of an audit of preparedness for the fire season, studied materials on landscape fires within Krasnoyarsk. In one of them this story surfaced.

The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit against the boy's father for the recovery of 65 thousand rubles – exactly the amount spent on eliminating the fire. The claim was upheld and the decision was executed.
