Gvardeysky Park will be modernized and landscaped as part of Krasnoyarsk’s preparations for the 400th anniversary of its founding.
The mayor's office said that work in the park will be carried out by Megapolis LLC. In accordance with the project, it is planned to create a number of military-historical objects with areas for patriotic education on the territory. The first stage of improvement will be carried out this year. It can be called preparatory, although the work will cover most of the territory – about 80%.
The park needs to renew alleys and paths, and prepare surfaces for future sites. On the central alley leading to the temple, the old side stones will be replaced with front stones made of natural stone, and a modern paving stone will be laid. Paving stones will also be laid on sidewalks. The asphalt surface of the driveways will be renewed. Some of the park’s paths will be embanked, since there are many trees of different ages in Gvardeyskoye.
Also in the park, more than 6 thousand square meters of lawns will be renewed and new benches and trash cans will be installed. As part of the first stage, both entrances will be equipped. The designers provided two entrance arches.
Work will need to begin when warm weather arrives and be completed in November.
“Gvardeysky symbolizes the contribution of Krasnoyarsk residents to the Great Victory. During the war, the famous 78th Volunteer Brigade was formed on this territory. In transforming the park, it is very important to embody the ideas of Krasnoyarsk residents, which would emphasize the special status of the space. Therefore, on behalf of the governor of the region, decisions were discussed with residents and combat veterans, soldiers of the Northern Military District,” noted the head of the city, Sergei Vereshchagin.
Decisions on the placement of memorial sites, the design of patriotic locations, children's play areas, and places for quiet recreation will be implemented at the next stage of improvement.
