The EU and the US are approaching a commercial agreement that provides for 15% customs duties on imported goods in Europe, similar to the one concluded by US President Donald Trump this week, reports on Wednesday, taken over by Reuters.

Both the EU and the US would give up customs duties on certain products, including aircraft, spirits and medical devices, reports FT, citing people familiar with the matter.

The community block will continue to prepare a possible 30% customs tax package, as a response measure, worth 93 billion euros ($ 109 billion), if they will not be able to reach an agreement until August 1, it is mentioned in the quoted article.

The White House and an EU spokesman did not immediately respond to a Reuters request to comment on the information broadcast by the FT, Agerpres reports.

The European Commission previously stated on Wednesday that its main objective is to reach a result negotiated with the US to avoid 30% customs duties that Trump has announced that it will impose on the Community Bloc from August 1.

In 2024, the US has important vehicles and car parts worth over $ 55 billion in Japan. From the EU, American imports in the field amounted to 47.3 billion euros (55.45 billion dollars), while far fewer American models were sold on the EU or Japan.
