How willing Tehran is to continue the war. The announcement of the Iranian army, after Trump rejected the truce option

The spokesman for the Iranian military said on Monday that his country will continue to fight “as long as political leaders deem it appropriate”, in the context of several countries in the Middle East trying to negotiate a truce between Iran, the United States and Israel, reports AFP.

“The enemy must definitely regret (the outbreak of hostilities, no) so that after this conflict we can regain security and avoid a new war,” spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia was quoted as saying by Iran's Isna news agency.

Trump rejects the 45-day truce option

Earlier on Monday, the White House confirmed that several mediating countries had proposed a 45-day truce in the war with Iran, but US President Donald Trump rejected the proposal.

“This is one idea among many others and the president has not validated it. The “Epic Fury” operation continues and the president will speak at 1:00 p.m., Washington time (8:00 p.m. Romanian time), during a press conference, indicated an American official, also quoted by AFP.

According to the American publication Axios, three mediating countries, namely Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt, proposed a 45-day truce as the first step to end the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran.

On Sunday, Trump threatened Iran to unleash “hell” on the country by attacking its bridges and power plants if it does not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8:00 p.m. Washington time on Tuesday (00:00 GMT Wednesday), in his latest ultimatum to Tehran.

“If they don't do something by Tuesday night, they won't have any power plants or bridges standing,” the US president threatened.

Iran responded on Monday that it will not negotiate with the US under the threat of ultimatums and that it formulated its own positions and demands in response to the truce proposals that were sent to Tehran through intermediaries, notes Agerpres.

“Negotiations are incompatible with ultimatums, crimes or threats to commit war crimes,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei.

According to sources cited by Axios, the three countries' mediation is focused on fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz and finding a solution to Iran's highly enriched uranium, either by removing it from the country or by diluting it, which are key conditions set by the US and Israel for a deal.
