Constantin Toma contradicts Grindeanu: “There are many colleagues who support that Bolojan should remain prime minister”

The mayor of Buzău, Constantin Toma, said on Thursday, April 2, that there are many social-democratic colleagues who support Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan in the government. The statement comes after the PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, called him a “bolojenist”, saying that he is the only social democrat who supports the current Coalition.

“I am very sorry, but there are many colleagues who support the current situation in the sense that Bolojan should remain prime minister because he is doing a good job. Maybe he had some excesses, maybe, I know, he is not an extraordinary communicator, but he is the right man in the right place, in these wrong times, because he is the first man who after 1990 is trying to save Romania's situation and create a better future for this country.
You have a political agreement, the rotation is next year in April, and Bolojan can only be changed, if he will be changed, by his party and that's normal. The PSD will lose its image through this effort. He risks ending up even in the opposition. At this moment, people say that the PSD is both in the government and in the opposition.
If he leaves the government, he will no longer be evident either in the government or in the opposition, because in the opposition the majority is AUR together with its allies. So the PSD is in for a bad fate if it follows what Mr. Sorin Grindeanu urges”declared for Agerăres, the mayor of Buzău.
He specified that, for the PSD, the DNA investigation at the Romanian Road Authority (ARR) represents “a blow”, referring to the case involving Cristian Anton, the head of the institution and former chief of staff of Grindeanu.
“We also have our bologenist, obviously, Toma from Buzău”
On Wednesday, Grindeanu declared, after the regional meeting of the Bucharest-Ilfov organizations, that most of those who expressed their point of view here demanded that the party leave the current governing coalition.
The social-democratic leader specified that, in all the six regional meetings organized so far, only one person supported the continuation of the government in the current formula.
“On the 20th we have the vote and today the organizer was the same as in the other regional meetings. I presented the current situation (…) the image of the government, the self-evaluation against our presence in the Coalition and in the government. After that, I presented the scenarios we can enter with the April 20 voteGrindeanu said.
According to the social democrat, the atmosphere in the party branches is similar everywhere in the country:
“A single Romanian expressed in all six regional meetings that it would be good to continue in the same way. We also have our Bolojenist, obviously, Toma de la Buzău. Otherwise, not even one person, at the six regional meetings, said that we should continue in the current form“.
