The attack on Prince Sultan's base in Saudi Arabia took place on March 27. According to unofficial reports, 15 American soldiers were injured, including five seriously.
The base is managed by the Saudi military, but it is also used by the American army, which means that it has been the target of Iranian attacks several times.
According to reports from the “Air and Space Forces” website, Friday's attack damaged refueling planes as well as an E-3G Sentry machine. Photos that appeared on the Internet show that the central part of the plane was torn in half.
The damage to the machine is concentrated in the rear part of the plane, where the rotating radar dome and sensitive surveillance system devices are located. The side number indicates that the plane came from an Air Force base in Oklahoma.
The E-3G “Sentry” aircraft is actually an airborne early warning and control system. The first model of this type began operating in the US army in 1977.
