During his speech, Trump devoted many praises and warm words to his Middle Eastern allies. He emphasized that the Persian Gulf countries stood shoulder to shoulder with the US during the war with Iran. “Saudi Arabia fought, Qatar fought, the United Arab Emirates fought, Bahrain fought and Kuwait fought,” he said.
He called the Emir of Qatar, the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Prince of Saudi Arabia “three great people.” The US president contrasted them with NATO members. As he stated, the members of the Alliance had failed the US, unlike the Persian Gulf countries.
At the end of his speech, Trump said he wanted his decisions to be remembered as the actions of a “great mediator” who “ended eight wars.”
