HBO has released the first official teaser for the Harry Potter series, confirming the debut of the first season on December 25, 2026.
The first video sequences offer a detailed look at the new setting of Hogwarts castle and confirm the magical atmosphere of the new production.
The biggest novelty is the change of actors. The main role will be played by Dominic McLaughlin (Harry Potter), followed by Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley).
For the roles of the teachers, HBO relied on:
- John Lithgow will be the legendary Albus Dumbledore;
- Janet McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall;
- Paapa Essiedu takes on the role of stern Severus Snape;
- Nick Frost will be the giant Rubeus Hagrid.
Unlike the movies, the series format allows writer and executive producer JK Rowling to include details from the novels that were previously omitted. The first season will have 8 episodes and will fully cover the first volume, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone”.
HBO has confirmed that it plans to produce a season for each of the seven books, spanning the entire saga over roughly a decade to allow the child actors to grow naturally with their characters.
