Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal estimated on Wednesday that rebuilding the country's energy infrastructure after the end of the war with Russia would cost about $91 billion, the Economic Pravda website reported.

– To implement such investments, Ukraine will also need private capital – said Shmyhal during the discussion “Global partnership for Ukraine: strategic opportunities in the energy sector”. The debate took place on Wednesday in Houston, USA, as part of the CERAWeek energy sector conference.
The Ukrainian minister added that, according to World Bank estimates, the reconstruction of his country's energy sector will take at least 10 years.
He mentioned renewable energy, gas power plants and gas extraction as well as investments in local energy networks as the most promising development sectors.
Szmyhal met with US Energy Minister Chris Wrigth on Wednesday. The politicians' conversation concerned potential US aid for Ukraine in the form of a loan of USD 1.4 billion for the reconstruction of the energy sector in cooperation with the US, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy said on Telegram.
Most Ukrainian power plants and thermal power plants were damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian attacks on the energy sector, carried out since 2022. (PAP)
