Thermal modernization relief for the second photovoltaics. Can you deduct expenses?

Polish women and men willingly take advantage of the thermal modernization relief. In this way, they want to influence the amount of bills while supporting renewable energy sources. For some, it is an impulse to install another photovoltaic installation.

The possibility of taking advantage of the thermal modernization relief is quite well explained in the regulations. Most often, however, we are talking about one investment, which may cause fluctuations in the context of another photovoltaics.
Thermal modernization relief also for a second photovoltaics in the house?
Investing in another photovoltaic installation may be the optimal solution in the face of the growing energy needs of homes. As a reminder: any taxpayer (owner or co-owner) can benefit from the thermal modernization relief and deduct thermal modernization expenses up to PLN 53,000. zloty. The catalog of expenses covered by the relief includes, among others: photovoltaic panels.

As “Gazeta Prawna” explains, the head of KIS explained the principles under which you can benefit from the relief, how to settle such expenses in PIT and when they can be deducted.

As “Gazeta Prawna” explains, doubts in this matter arose when the owner of the house wanted to install a new photovoltaic installation on the ground and an energy storage facility in the garage, even though there is already one small installation on the property. The taxpayer emphasized that previous expenses were not settled under the relief, and the new installation would only serve the energy needs of the house.

The ambiguities were clarified by the director of the KIS in the interpretation of March 10, 2026. It gives the green light for further investments in renewable energy sources as part of the thermal modernization relief. KIS confirmed that the costs of the second installation and energy storage can be deducted, even if the first installation is already operational.

“It is important that the deductible expenses are incurred for the implementation of a thermal modernization project relating to a residential building of which the taxpayer is the owner or co-owner,” said the director of the KIS in the interpretation quoted by “Gazeta Prawna”
