The District Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław discontinued the proceedings regarding the sale of agricultural plots by the Wrocław parish for the family of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The evidence gathered did not give grounds to find out a crime – the investigators donated.

The end of the preparatory proceedings was confirmed by PAP spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław, Prosecutor Karolina Stocka-Mycek.
The subject of the proceedings was Sales by the Roman Catholic parish Elżbieta in Wrocław, three agricultural plots within the Wrocław resistant. One of them had an area of 1924 square meters, the other two in total 14.8 hectares. In 2002, they were sold to the family of the former prime minister for the amount of 700 thousand. zloty.
“Gazeta Wyborcza” dealt with the matter. Her journalists suggested that the price of the transaction was much lower than the real value of the land. They also wrote that in 2001 Morawiecki as a councilor of the Lower Silesian Parliament had access to the plans of investment of Wrocław and the entire province, and this knowledge could be used to obtain information on a later transaction. The former prime minister strongly denied this.
According to media accounts describing this matter, real estate was in 2021 the subject of another sales for a much higher amount. Her wife of the former prime minister was to make, whom Mateusz Morawiecki had to prescribe the property before.
On Thursday, investigators informed that on the basis of the evidence gathered, it could not be determined whether there was a crime in this case.
The reason for discontinuing the proceedings is the lack of data that gives the basis to state that the parish spokeswoman explained in an interview with PAP intentionally and consciously.
As Prosecutor Stock Mycek said, 10 volumes of files were collected during the proceedings and a number of witnesses were questioned: both former priests, later buyers of the plots, and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and his wife.
– Many witnesses were obscured by oblivion due to the passage of time and they were unable to refer to some threads – said Prosecutor Stocka -Mycek.
The injured party in the case is the parish to which a copy of the prosecutor's decision was sent. The same document went to the Wrocław curia.
“It should be remembered that the parties to the contract determined the amount of payment and in this respect they had full freedom in making decisions. The fact of the subsequent sale of these plots for the amount significantly exceeding the amount of purchase, although it may be controversial, however, this de facto does not affect the legal assessment of the behavior of the parties to the contract of 2002” – explained investigators at the announcement issued on Thursday.
Investigators also emphasized that in this case criminal proceedings cannot be continued taking into account possible corruption and receiving bribes and exceeding the rights, because their criminal record has been limited.
The decision to discontinue the proceedings is not final. Both the parish and the curia have the option of lodging a complaint on it within 7 days. (PAP)
