PNL leader: “You can collaborate as a parliamentarian including with the AUR” / How he responds to Grindeanu to the accusation that the PNL sends “marzipans” to the AUR

The leader of the PNL senators, Daniel Fenechiu, said on Wednesday that the liberals can “parliamentarily collaborate with any political party, including the AUR”, in the event that a government crisis will be reached amid the tensions between them and the PSD, where on April 20 an internal consultation will take place regarding a possible exit from the government.

On Wednesday evening, on B1 TV, Fenechiu said that the current government “has been struggling for some time and trying to manage Romania”.

“Today we have a government, a government that is possible to continue, under the terms of the protocol (…). If, however, a government crisis arises, I tried to be as rational as possible, so to speak, as a leader of a parliamentary group, as a person who works in Parliament with all political formations, yes, I can say as clearly as possible that to ensure the stability of Romania you can collaborate in parliament with any political party and, yes, including the AUR”, added the leader of the PNL Group from Senate.

The liberal was then asked if the PNL leaders sent the “marzipans” to the AUR, as Sorin Grindeanu accused them.

“There is no easy way. Here the problem is responsibility (…). I did not speak of a PNL-AUR or PNL-USR-UDMR-AUR government, but I simply said that, yes, a parliamentarian can collaborate with any political formation, regardless of what we think, intimately, about the reasons of the respective formation, as long as important things for Romania and for stability can be done. Otherwise, one can speculate on any number of things”, answered Daniel Fenechiu.

“The option of early elections is not excluded either”

The leader of the PNL senators said he does not rule out the possibility of reaching early elections either.

“Ultimately, even the option of early elections, in my opinion and that of many PNL colleagues, is not excluded,” he said.

On the other hand, Daniel Fenechiu mentioned that he knows “many responsible people” in the PSD.

“I know many responsible people in the PSD, who have taken a European path, and I believe that Mr. Grindeanu, in Brussels, will see what is the perception of the European partners on things in Romania and will help him to clarify certain party colleagues, who are only pursuing propaganda purposes”, Daniel Fenechiu also declared.
