“Forget we talked in the morning”

His former footballer LiverpoolJohn Toshack (age 77), was diagnosed with dementia.

After his playing career ended, the former striker coached several clubs, including Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and the Wales national team. He played for the Cormorants between 1970 and 1978, during which time he was a fan favourite.

The sad announcement was made by Toshack's son Cameron. He told how his father's illness manifests itself. He remembers very well moments from his football career, but forgets recent events.

The 77-year-old Welshman scored almost 100 goals for Liverpool and won several trophies in the 1970s. He played 40 matches for the national team of Wales.

“It's a terrible disease. If we talk in the afternoon, he doesn't remember we talked in the morning. But if I ask him about his time in Liverpool, the details he remembers are amazing.” Cameron said, according to sport.aktuality.sk.

Those from Liverpool are only in 5th place in the Premier League, with 49 points. For the “cormorants”, the match against Manchester City follows, from the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The game will be played on April 4, from 14:45.
