Rapid paraded with Union Sloboziascore 4-1, in the most convincing match of the Giulești team this season. Constantin Gâlcă's team climbed to 31 points and shares the first position in the Superliga with the surprise FC Botoșani. Petrila, Rareș Pop and Cristi Manea solved the match from the first half, and Dobre completed the scoreboard after the break.
At the end of the game, the coach of Unirii Slobozia, Jean Vlădoiu, was disappointed by the attitude of his players in the first half:
“I think the boys understood what I told them. We learn from our mistakes, we missed rare opportunities and Rapid are a very good team who will fight for the title. We missed, they scored and we kept it that way.”
The technician explained that he asked his students for more courage and determination in the second part:
“At halftime I told them that we have to play, and that it is a shame to concede goals easily. We have nothing to lose, we had to go out and show that Slobozia is not the one from the first half, but a more valuable one. The boys tried, I also scored a goal, but not enough to leave Giulesti with a point.”
The former international from Argeș and Steaua also spoke about the former speedster Papeau
“We have squad problems, but I hope that by the match with Argeș we will solve them. We have a valuable squad, but our objective is to stay in the first league. We have an important match on Saturday, with Argeș, and I hope we play better and win.”
Vlădoiu also spoke about Jayson Papeau, former Rapid player, recently transferred to Unirea Slobozia:
“Papeau has been here for 3 weeks. It's clear he's one of the guys playing, we've integrated him, he's sensational. Other players have come in along the way, but in 4 months I think we're looking good. Some people thought we were the first to be relegated, but it seems that's not quite the case.”
