Bolojan, attack on the PSD: “It escalated into a conflict zone, violating the protocol of the coalition”

The President of the PNL, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, declared to Euronews that “it will remain to be seen” whether Romania will have the current governing coalition even after Easter. Bolojan complains that “PSD has escalated a conflict zone, violating the protocol of the coalition” and points out that, if the parties in the Government do not respect each other, it is difficult to assume that they will regain respect from the citizens.

Asked, on Tuesday evening, if after the Easter holidays Romania will still have the current governing coalition, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan replied: “That will remain to be seen.”

“I think it would be good to have a coalition, on the one hand because we are in a difficult situation, in an international context that is not very comfortable, we are in a deficit situation in the country, think that this year we must continue to reduce our deficit, because only the interest we pay is 60 billion euros forecast this year”, added the prime minister, quoted by News.ro.

“Political Arrogance”

He said that all the “emergencies” that Romania has involve the need for a stable government, which cannot be so without a stable relationship between the parties that make up the Executive.

“It is obvious to everyone who follows what happened during this period that the PSD has escalated a conflict zone, violating the protocol of the coalition. We have some understandings related to a certain attitude, the way voting is done in Parliament, the way proposals are initiated by the members of the coalition that should respect some rules, simply due to respect between partners, because if some parties do not respect each other, including through public behavior, it is difficult to assume that we will win back somehow the respect of the citizens”, declared Bolojan.

The President of the PNL added that his own party and the PSD are responsible for the situation in which Romania is currently, showing that the PSD cannot run away either from this responsibility, or from the responsibility regarding the way Romania was “shaped” in the last more than three decades, when the social democrats were in charge for many years.

In this context, Bolojan stated that the attitude of the PNL to continue assuming the government “seemed common sense”.

“It seemed common sense to me that what was voted yesterday at the PNL, let's say as clearly as possible that we, being aware of the situation in which the country is (…) It seemed normal to me to warn the PSD that it assumes responsibility for dynamiting a government and in the conditions where, without having reasons, only because you are disturbed by certain things that do not suit you because you are going into an area of political arrogance, however, you are acting, how can I tell you, in a form that is destructive, you have to assume this responsibility”, emphasized the president of the PNL.
