Mayor Bujduveanu withdraws the project related to the transition of the revolution market in the MAI administration

The project that provides for the passing of the Market of the Revolution and the Monument of the Heroes of the Revolution to the administration will be withdrawn from the agenda of the Wednesday meeting of the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest.

The reason invoked by this is the “force of dialogue”.

“The Square of the Revolution belongs to the people. We have carefully pursued the reactions and positions expressed in the public space regarding the project on the potential transfer to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of an area of 2,239 square meters, a green space right in front of the MAI building, already used by this institution.

For clarity: it is a distinct lot, not the front parking or the rest of the revolution market. The area of 6,613 square meters that form the essence of the market would remain in full in the administration of the municipality of Bucharest.

I believe in the force of dialogue and I know how important public spaces are for a living capital. Therefore, my decision is to withdraw the project on the agenda of the General Council and to launch a real and transparent public debate.

As we have supported publicly in 2023, the Revolution Square must become a pedestrian, accessible, lively, reflecting memory, dignity and values for which this place has a deep historical significance for Bucharest.wrote Stelian Bujduveanu on his Facebook page.
