Britain's Foreign Office said on Monday it had summoned Iranian ambassador Sayyed Ali Mousavi over Tehran's “reckless and destabilizing actions” in the UK and abroad.

The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the ambassador's summons follows the decision to bring charges against two men suspected of providing assistance to Iran's intelligence services.
In early March, 40-year-old Nematollah Shahsawani, a dual British-Iranian citizen, and 22-year-old Iranian citizen Alireza Farasati were arrested as part of an investigation into espionage activities for Iran. They are suspected of conducting reconnaissance of targets related to the Jewish community in London, including the oldest synagogue in Great Britain.
“National security remains our highest priority and we take the threats posed by Iran and those who do its bidding extremely seriously. The Government will take all necessary measures to protect British citizens, including exposing Iran's reckless and destabilizing actions both at home and abroad,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
Earlier on Monday, Defense Secretary John Healey confirmed that Iran fired two missiles at the British-American military base on Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean on Friday. (PAP)
