Iran rejects Pakistan's offer to mediate peace talks: “A new attempt to deceive the US”

Iran's embassy in Pakistan on Tuesday qualified the United States' negotiation offer as “a scam” and refused any dialogue with Washington, a position that cools the mediation attempt presented by Islamabad to end the war in the Middle East, reports EFE, taken over by Agerpres.
“Iran considers the US's request for negotiations as a new deception attempt to reposition itself, find loopholes and look for connections to intensify attacks again,” the Iranian embassy in the Pakistani capital said on the X social network, just hours after Pakistan confirmed its offer to mediate between Iran, the US and Israel.
The Iranian diplomatic mission stated that “confidence is nil after two rounds of attacks during the talks” and that, “through intimidation and totalitarian rhetoric, there is no possibility”.
Pakistan willing to host peace talks
The remarks come after Pakistan confirmed it is leading a mediation initiative with Turkey and Egypt to end the war that has sparked or exacerbated other conflicts in the region.
In this regard, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on X that, “with the approval of the United States and Iran, Pakistan is willing and honored to be the host to facilitate meaningful and conclusive conversations that will allow for a comprehensive solution to the ongoing conflict.”
In previous statements for EFE, government sources stated that Islamabad offered itself as a host for peace negotiations based on the ties of its military leadership with Tehran and on the relationship it maintains with US President Donald Trump.
The war in the Middle East is entering its fourth week since its outbreak, on February 28, by the coordinated attacks of the United States and Israel on Iranian territory.
In response, Iran launched waves of missiles and drones against Israel and strategic targets in the Persian Gulf, keeping the Strait of Hormuz through which a fifth of the world's oil supply passes blocked.
