In a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Iranian president emphasized that it was not Iran that “started the war“, notes the same agency, quoted by Agerpres.
“The condition for the end of war and conflict in the region is the immediate cessation of aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime, as well as the guarantee that it will not be repeated in the future.”said Pezeshkian, according to the local news agency Irna.
Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US and Israel of launching attacks “without justification and without a legal basis” in the midst of negotiations over his country's nuclear program, which led to the killing of senior military officials and civilians, calling for an end to what he described as actions “inhumane and immoral”.
The president rejected the arguments invoked by Washington to justify the military offensive, especially the alleged intention to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, and reiterated that the Islamic Republic is carrying out a program for peaceful purposes and is willing to submit its nuclear activities to international supervision.

The Iranian president also emphasized the need to strengthen unity among the countries in the region and proposed the creation of a regional security mechanism to guarantee stability without the intervention of external actors.
For his part, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India's concern about the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and supported the need to return to the path of dialogue as soon as possible, according to the Irna agency.
The head of the Indian government also warned of the risks of attacks on energy infrastructures for global security and emphasized the importance of guaranteeing freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf, in an allusion to Iran's blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil production passes.
