The Ukrainian delegation included Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, Head of the Presidential Office Kirill Budanov, his first deputy Sergei Kislitsa and head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamia.
From the US side, the negotiations will be attended by US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and the White House head's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky reported that the task of the negotiators from Ukraine is to find out clear parameters for the extension of trilateral meetings with the participation of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, the preparation of relevant documents for negotiations, the continuation of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) program, relations between Kiev and Washington, as well as an agreement on interceptor drones (drone deal).
Context
The previous round of trilateral negotiations took place in Geneva in February, the next meeting was originally planned in early March, as Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky reported, during March 5–9 in Abu Dhabi (UAE), however due to the military operation that Israel and the United States launched against Iran on February 28, negotiations had to be postponed. Later, the media reported that the next round could be held on March 11 in Istanbul, but this too was postponed due to the priority attention of the American side to the situation around Iran.
After this, Zelensky informed that the meeting could take place next week (March 9–15), however, it was postponed at the request of the American side.
