Two people familiar with the U.S.-Russian negotiations said that Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev made such a proposal to U.S. presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during last week's meeting in Miami.

According to the sources mentioned, the United States rejected this offer.

Nevertheless, the very fact of putting forward such a proposal has caused concern among European diplomats, who fear that Russia wants to drive a wedge between the US and Europe at a key moment for transatlantic relations – writes Politico.

One EU diplomat called the Russian proposal “scandalous.” According to the portal, it will increase suspicions in Europe that Witkoff's meetings with Dmitriev do not bring any progress on the peace agreement regarding Ukraine, but are perceived by Moscow as an opportunity to conclude an agreement with Washington that will marginalize Europe.

Another person familiar with the talks said Russia had made various proposals to the United States regarding Iran, but all of them had been rejected. According to this person, the US also rejected the proposal to transfer enriched uranium from Iran to Russia.

One source told the website that since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, Russia has expanded intelligence sharing with Iran.

Although the United States has limited support for Ukraine, it still shares intelligence data with this country, Politico reminds. (PAP)
