Layoffs at CBS News
According to “Deadline”, the reductions will affect 60-70 employees, with the current employment of approximately 1.1 thousand. people.
This is yet another wave of layoffs at CBS News. In October last year, the station eliminated approximately 100 positions, including closing the Johannesburg office, the Race & Culture Unit, as well as the streaming editions of “CBS Mornings” and “CBS Evening News”. Rumors about further cuts have been circulating in the editorial office for several weeks.
The new CBS News strategy, announced by Bari Weiss in January, assumes rebuilding trust in the media, developing streaming and building brands around program hosts. The reorganization of the newsroom, including reducing the number of employees, is intended to enable investments in these priority areas.
