Renault drones for Ukraine. A well-known car brand will launch a new production

— We were approached because of our experience in manufacturing and industrial innovation. This project is ongoing and is being led by the Ministry of Defense, said the director of Renault Fabrice Cambolive, quoted by the British newspaper.
As “The Financial Times” writes, Renault did not specify whether the drones will have offensive, defensive or surveillance purposes. The company announced that the locations of the Renault plants where the drones will be manufactured have not yet been finally selected.
A little more information is provided by the Ukrainian website Defense Express, which indicates that Renault, in cooperation with Turgis Gaillard, is to produce attack drones codenamed Chorus. Their characteristics are expected to be similar to the Iranian Shaheds used by the Russians.
“In addition to being able to perform long-range strikes, the Chorus drone will be capable of conducting reconnaissance missions. Renault is expected to start production at its plants in Le Mans and Cleon,” writes Defense Express.

Founded in 1899, the French company Renault is currently known mainly for its car production. However, the plants from the Île-de-France region also wrote a beautiful page in military history. It was there that one of the first modern tanks, the Renault FT, was created in 1917. Currently they co-produce, among others: Nexter Jaguar EBRC reconnaissance and combat vehicles and reconnaissance and long-range drones.
