Trump threatens that the US may abandon efforts to unblock the Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump again criticized on Wednesday the refusal of the allies of the United States to contribute to securing the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route blocked by Iran following the American-Israeli attacks, and let the threat of a disengagement of Washington in the strait be planned, reports AFP.

For several days, the American president has been very irritated by the refusal of Washington's main NATO allies, including France and Great Britain, to help the United States reopen this strait through which, before the war, almost 20% of the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas transited. The near-total paralysis of the strategic Strait of Hormuz has caused oil prices to skyrocket over the past two weeks.

On Wednesday, Donald Trump threatened that the United States could abandon efforts to unblock the Strait of Hormuz.

“I wonder what would happen if we 'finished' what is left of the Iranian terrorist state and let the countries that use it – not us – be responsible for the so-called 'strait'? That would make some of our passive 'allies' move, and fast!!!”, the White House leader wrote on his Truth Social network.

On Monday, Trump requested the assistance of major world powers to guarantee the security of the strait. On Tuesday, he described as “a really stupid mistake” the refusal of many NATO countries to provide assistance to the United States and assured that, in the end, their help is not needed.

At the same time, the US military hit Iranian missile depots near the Strait of Hormuz with anti-bunker bombs.
