The United States eases sanctions against Belarus

John Coale, US special envoy for Belarus, met with Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk to discuss opportunities to improve relations between the two countries. After the talks, Coale announced the United States' decision to ease some of the restrictions.
According to information provided by the official channel of the President of Belarus, American authorities decided to lift sanctions imposed on two state-owned banks: Belinwestbank and Development Bank, as well as on the Belarusian Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, they are to be removed from the sanctions list key companies from the potash sector: Belaruskalij and BPC (Belarusian Potash Company).
Release of political prisoners
In response to the US actions, the Belarusian authorities decided to release 250 political prisoners. This information was provided by the United States Embassy in Lithuania.
Although the full list of released people has not yet been revealed, it is known that among them was Belsat journalist Katsyarina Andreyeva, who was detained during anti-government protests in 2020.
Strategy towards Russia
