The ex-head of the technical supervision department of the traffic police in Krasnoyarsk was convicted of bribes (video)

In Krasnoyarsk, the court recognized the former head of the technical supervision department of the traffic police guilty of receiving a large bribe and sentenced to long imprisonment.

It was established that the inspector, who served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2001, often came to the traffic stop in the summer of 2018 “Vostochny Bus Station” with inspections of public transport and clung to the little things. The carrier, owner of a fleet of buses on routes No. 60 and 83, tried to argue, but the policeman offered him “good relations.”

“For 20 thousand rubles in cash, there was a promise to check less often, be more loyal and help with inspections. The deal was sealed and off we went: every couple of months – the same rate at the bus stop or at the house. Then the amounts jumped to 25-50 thousand rubles. While Krasnoyarsk residents complained about overcrowded cabins, the carrier’s business was booming without fines, minimizing checks and problems. In total, 395 thousand rubles were collected – a solid “bonus” for peace,” the prosecutor’s office said.

When the scheme was stopped by law enforcement, the businessman described its details: the inspector called in advance, showed the amount in the calculator on his smartphone, and hid a wad of money under a folder. The ex-policeman himself denied guilt and stated the following: “I never took money – neither from him nor from other carriers. “I had no authority to adjust the checks.”

The court assessed the testimony, call details, meeting coordinates, bank statements and found the defendant’s defense arguments untenable. According to paragraph “c” of Part 5 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he was sentenced to 7.5 years in a maximum security colony with a fine of 790 thousand rubles, the equivalent of a bribe was confiscated, his personal car was seized, and he was deprived of the rank of “police major” and the right to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 5 years.

Let us remind you that the carrier who had previously given bribes was fined 2.4 million rubles.
