The Kremlin agrees with Trump: “It's not exactly Churchill and De Gaulle, that's the reality”

The Kremlin was, on Wednesday, in agreement with US President Donald Trump, who previously commented on the supposed low caliber of some European politicians.

“We can probably agree that (British Prime Minister Keir) Starmer is not Winston Churchill and that (French President Emmanuel) Macron is not Charles de Gaulle. The list is endless. These are undoubtedly the political realities we live in,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during his daily telephone press conference, EFE and Agerpres report.

The refusal of European partners to participate in the Iran war led Trump to compare Starmer to Churchill.

“Unfortunately, Keir is not Winston Churchill,” Trump said Tuesday.

In an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Trump and Starmer to meet and find common ground after their disagreements over the Iran war.

The Kremlin has previously said that the war with Iran is not its war and that it will protect its own interests, “however cynical that may sound,” according to its spokesman, Dmitry Peksov.

At the same time, Trump himself admitted that Moscow could help Tehran “a little”.

Meanwhile, trilateral negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the US remain deadlocked as the US administration is preoccupied with the conflict in the Middle East.
