Slovakia introduces fuel limits. Foreigners will pay more


The new solutions are intended to counteract shortages on the domestic fuel market. The authorities in Bratislava decided on Wednesday, and the regulations will enter into force in the coming days.

Foreigners refueling in Slovakia will have to pay at a special rate. The amount will be determined as the arithmetic average of prices in force in three neighboring countries: Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. Currently, diesel fuel at Slovak stations costs approximately EUR 1.5 per liter.

The regulations also introduce stiff quantitative limits. With one refueling, you can only buy as much fuel as will fit in the vehicle's tank and a maximum of one 10-liter canister. Additionally, it was established financial ceiling of EUR 400 for each refueling.
