Romanian player Gabriela Ruse (27 years old, 88th WTA) lost in the second round on the Tournament of the WTA 1000 in Rome, 3-6, 3-6 in front of the American Danielle Collins (31 years, the world number 35).
The third meeting between Gabriela Ruse and Danielle Collins -All played on the slag, in Hamburg, respectively Palermo 2021-would break the balance of the score until then, 1-1. This time, it was a scatter on an important stage, in the WTA 1000 category tournament, on the beautiful Pietrangel arena, modified to host several spectators.
The Romanian was already coming after three matches played in the capital of Rome, two in qualifications and the tired duel, for almost three hours, in the first round of the main panel, with Polina Kudemetova.

Gabi Ruse, inconsistency at work
Collins managed to pass again with a white break, 5-3, then closed the set, 6-3, taking advantage of the hesitations at work of the Romanian, caused, maybe, by the foot problem. Ruse only won 56% from the balls with the first and 33 with the second.
The second part of the match ran in a similar way, Danielle being too strong and accurate for the “tricolora” who fought as well as she could well under the given conditions.
Americanca, the world number 35, semifinalist last year in Rome, imposed with 6-3, 6-3 in just one hour and 15 minutes. In the second act, Gabi was able to put the first service in the game only 43%, insufficient to hold the opponent's returns.
