Europe must invest in its own industry, Europe should invest in its own supply chains, there is no return to importing raw materials from Russia, said the Minister of Energy, Miłosz Motyka, on Wednesday in Gdańsk.

The head of the Ministry of Energy takes part in the PowerConnect 2026 fair and conference taking place in Gdańsk. During a joint briefing with the Minister of Energy of Lithuania, Zygimantas Vaiciunas, Motyka emphasized that he is convinced that both countries will expand cooperation in the energy and security sectors in the future.
– Europe must invest in its own industry. Europe should invest in its own supply chains and there is no return to importing raw materials from Russia, assured Motyka.
He noted that today any attempts to breach the architecture of resistance would jeopardize the security of Poland and Lithuania, and above all Ukraine, which would be the first to feel the increase in tension because of this.
– We are saying here with one voice that we will be consistent in this policy. We will also talk about this with our partners and friends in the (European Union). We believe that there is no return to business as usual and no return to importing raw materials from Russia. Both in terms of gas and oil. It is simply not profitable for us from the point of view of security, from the point of view of the certainty of our investments and the economy, he added.
The Minister of Energy also referred to the announcement of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who said on Wednesday that he would try to convince European partners to change their philosophy regarding energy and climate policy, so that each Member State can count on an approach that takes into account its specificity.
Motyka assured that the Polish government would pursue a policy of pragmatism, realizing that today the ECJ system requires revision.
– But leaving it would de facto leave the European Union, which the previous prime minister (Mateusz Morawiecki – PAP) was also well aware of – said Motyka.
The Energy Fair and the PowerConnect 2026 Conference are held in the AmberExpo halls in Gdańsk. The program includes four thematic paths: energy security, energy transformation, local content and transformation in practice. An important element of the fair will be the “Power of Polish Suppliers” component – an event designed to solve problems in the energy sector supply chain, connecting investors with qualified suppliers.
The honorary patronage of the fair included, among others: National Security Bureau and key ministries. The event partners are: Energa Group, Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Polska Spółka Gazownictwa. The fair will last until March 20. (PAP)
