Federal Judge Royce Lamberth's decision comes 10 days after he declared that the person chosen by US President Donald Trump to oversee massive layoffs at the Voice of America (VOA) was illegally appointed, thus invalidating the layoffs, writes Agerpres.
Kari Lake, a former TV anchor, announced drastic cuts to VOA funding and staff after being named head of the US Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which VOA and its sister stations Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia and others depend on.
Last year, the Trump Administration announced the layoff of all employees in this position, as part of a series of budget cuts.
Voice of America was founded during World War II to convey accurate information in authoritarian regimes.
