The Minister of Defense, after the threat from Iran: “There is no additional risk necessarily associated with Romanians”

The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, declared on Monday evening that the relevant structures of the Romanian state have not informed him so far that there is a threat of terrorist attacks in our country or any military threat from Iran.
A spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, warned on Monday that Tehran will react politically and legally after Romania gave the green light to the United States to use military bases in operations against Iran, according to the opposition publication Iran International, reporting from London.
Asked by reporters, on Monday evening, at the Parliament, about this threat, the Romanian Minister of Defense explained that the addition of American capacities and forces in our country, approved last week by the authorities in Bucharest, “is an element that increases Romania's defense capacity and increases the degree of deterrence of those who would look, perhaps, with interested eyes to attack national security”.
“I, as Minister of Defense, am constantly concerned that Romania's national security is the first priority and that we do everything in our power to increase it. The fact that American soldiers are coming to Romania is something that increases the degree of deterrence, not something that decreases the degree of deterrence”, added Radu Miruță.
“There is no additional risk necessarily associated with Romanians”
Radu Miruță said that, according to the analyzes made by “specialized structures”, there is “no additional risk” for Romanians.
“From the analyzes that the specialized structures in Romania have, there is no additional risk necessarily associated with Romanians. That there are risks of, I don't know, terrorist attacks, bombings, somewhere in the world where there are also Romanians it can happen”, he explained.
Asked if there is a possibility of such attacks in Romania as well, the minister added: “The Ministry of Defense has information regarding military risks. Regarding another category of risks, there are other structures of the Romanian state, which so far have not informed me that there is such a threat, I tell you that so far I have not received such a notification, nor a military one.”
Minister Miruță said that “the Deveselu shield defends Romania including against threats that could also come from Iran”.
“There is certainty that Romania has a number of capabilities to prevent such possible attacks. There is a constant concern to increase the degree of endowment of the Romanian Army in order to be able to deter more. I am leaving the budget committee, where for the endowment of the Romanian Army I proposed an amount worth 38% of the entire budget of the Ministry of Defense. I am in charge of a SAFE program, which is running 21 new endowment programs”, Radu Miruță also declared.
