Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to the athlete from Krasnoyarsk Alexey Bugaev, who won gold at the XIV Paralympic Winter Games in slalom among people with musculoskeletal disorders.

“With a confident, beautiful victory in slalom, you once again confirmed your high champion title, demonstrated honed skills, willpower and strength of character,” the head of state noted in his address.

Putin also congratulated the entire Russian team, which achieved high results at the Games.

Let us remind you that in the slalom Alexey Bugaev showed a result of 1 minute 28.55 seconds, ahead of his rivals from New Zealand and Switzerland. Earlier at these games, the Krasnoyarsk resident won two bronze medals – V downhill and giant slalom.

This victory became Bugaev’s fourth Paralympic gold in his career: he won twice in Sochi in 2014 and once in Pyeongchang in 2018.

The 2026 Paralympics took place from March 6 to 15, with Russian athletes competing under their own flag. In the overall standings, the Russian team took third place, winning 12 medals: eight gold, one silver and three bronze.
