ANAF confiscated over 32 kg of gold and silver jewelry, following controls in Bacău

ANAF Antifraud has seized more than 32 kg of gold and silver jewelry, worth more than 12 million lei, following a new series of controls at economic operators in Bacău Municipality that are engaged in the manufacture or sale of jewelry.

The inspectors of the General Anti-Fraud Tax Directorate within ANAF – the National Agency for Fiscal Administration seized 23.16 kilograms of gold and 9.51 kilograms of silver, with a total value of approximately 12.56 million lei, as a result of the completion of control actions carried out at economic operators in the Municipality of Bacău, which are active in the field of trade in jewelry and precious metals.
The control actions were initiated on the basis of fiscal risk analyzes and aimed at verifying compliance with the specific legislation regarding the record, provenance and trading of goods made of precious metals. The checks were also extended to another company related to the initially controlled economic operator, following the finding of similar deficiencies.

Following the checks carried out, ANAF Antifraud inspectors identified significant irregularities, consisting of insufficient inventory records, as well as the lack of supporting documents regarding the origin of important quantities of traded goods.
Consequently, confiscation measures were ordered for:
• 6,560 gold pieces, worth approximately 12.24 million lei
• 1,989 silver pieces, worth approximately 323,000 lei
At the same time, contraventional sanctions in the amount of 20,000 lei were applied, in accordance with the legal provisions in force.
The seized goods were handed over to the competent institutions, in accordance with legal procedures.
The General Anti-Fraud Tax Directorate maintains its firm commitment to combating tax evasion and intensifying controls in areas with high fiscal risk.
Verification actions will continue, in order to ensure compliance with the legal framework, protect the state's budgetary interests and support a fair competitive environment.
In this context, ANAF DGAF reiterates the obligation of economic operators to comply with the legal provisions regarding the record and traceability of goods made of precious metals.
