Two Russian military aircraft are suspected of violating the Finnish air space on Friday, the Ministry of Defense of Finland announced, according to AFP.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon, off the coasts of Porvoo in southern Finland, located about 50 kilometers from the capital Helsinki.
“We treat this alleged territorial violation seriously, and an investigation is ongoing,” said the Finnish Minister of Defense, Antti Hakkanen, in a statement.
According to the ministry, the Finnish border guards are the ones investigating the incident will provide further information.
The incident comes less than a day above the Baltic Sea, when a Russian Su-24 plane carrying dangerous maneuvers was intercepted by Polish air forces.
According to Poland Defense Minister, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, the aircraft interception order was issued by the common operating command for NATO Allied forces, and Polish aircraft located, intercepted and discouraged it.
