The head of the White House stressed that Iran has “very little firepower left.”
Trump pointed out that the United States has destroyed the country's ability to produce missiles. Therefore, now Iran, according to him, has few of them left.
“It’s the same with drones – there are much fewer of them. There are about 20% of them left of what we had, we started yesterday [14 марта] hit the places where they produce drones. We think we know where most of them are,” the US President added.
He believes that militarily the United States has “virtually defeated Iran.”
“I think they can resist a little, but a little. Not very much. We destroyed their air force. We destroyed their navy, their air defense. We eliminated their leadership,” Trump said.
The President also said that during the attack on the Iranian island of Kharg, the United States left only one small area – this is the place where the pipes are located, where all the oil pipelines converge.
“And we can destroy it with five minutes' warning. We have everything ready, loaded and ready to launch if we want to do it. But we decided not to do it. I decided not to do it yet. We'll see what happens,” Trump added.
The president also again stated that the United States has the strongest army in the world and that it has no competitors. “And we will see it through to the end,” Trump concluded.
Context
On the morning of February 28, Israel and the United States announced a military operation in Iran (Israel called it “Lion’s Roar,” the United States called it “Epic Fury”). Trump has stated his intention to protect the American people by eliminating threats from the Iranian regime.
As a result of a joint attack by the United States and Israel, the residence of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was significantly damaged; he was eliminated along with a group of representatives of the country's leadership.
Tehran threatened a “crushing” retaliatory strike and sent missiles and drones to several Middle Eastern countries where there are US military bases.
On March 1, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran is copying Russian drone attack tactics in the Persian Gulf, particularly by launching Shahed “wave after wave” to overwhelm air defense systems and hit civilian airports, seaports and other sensitive targets.
In an interview with CNN, the video of which was published on March 14, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine has 100 percent evidence of Iran using drones provided by Russia against American bases.
