The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry commented on Iran's threats about a “legitimate goal”

The day before, the head of the commission on national security and foreign policy of the Iranian parliament, Ibrahim Azizi, announced this. He pointed out that by supporting the Israeli regime with the help of drones, Ukraine “essentially entered into a war.”

Quiet reacted.

“The Iranian regime has been supporting the killing of Ukrainians for years, directly providing the aggressor state [России] drones and technologies for aggression against Ukraine. In this context, it is absurd when some representatives of this regime threaten Ukraine and refer to the right to self-defense enshrined in Art. 51 of the UN Charter,” he said.

A representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that this is the same as a serial killer justifying his crimes by referring to the criminal code. Tikhy also stressed that the Iranian regime must be held accountable “for crimes against the Iranian people and other countries and peoples.”

Context

After the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28, the Islamic state responded with Shahed ballistic missile and drone attacks, including on Middle Eastern countries where there are American military installations.

After this, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that he could send the best Ukrainian specialists to the Middle East if the leaders of the region convince the illegitimate president of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, to agree to a month-long truce in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

In an interview with Rai Italia published on March 5, the president also informed that Ukraine is receiving requests from partners in the Middle East, as well as Europe and the United States, to provide expertise in the fight against Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones used against civilian targets. At the same time, Zelensky recalled that the war continues in Ukraine itself and the country has a shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot air defense system.

On March 9, Zelensky reported 11 requests from Iran’s neighboring countries, European states and the United States for support from Ukraine in countering Iranian Shahed drones and other such challenges. There is no evidence that Israel is among these countries.

During an interview with Fox News, Trump, when asked whether Ukraine is helping the United States in the Middle East, responded with an objection. Commenting on these words, Zelensky emphasized on March 14 that it is not so much external statements that are important, but an understanding of one’s own steps and actions. “Rhetoric is rhetoric. The main thing is that we know what we are doing,” said the Ukrainian president.
