Paul Papp (36 years old), central defender at Petrolul and the author of the goal for Ploiești on Friday evening, at 1-1 with Rapidcommented after the match and the situation in the locker room, in response to a question about alleged tensions between the players and coach Eugen Neagoe.

Petrol had a difficult time, with 4 defeats in the previous 5 stages before facing Dinamo. There were times when coach Eugen Neagoe “boxed” his students to the statements, but the atmosphere has improved since then, also in the context of the recent results: 1-1 with Dinamo and Rapid, 1-0 with Unirea Slobozia, the Ploiesti team moving away from the relegation places.

Paul Papp, asked after Rapid – Petrolul: “Is it true that you are arguing with the coach?”

In these circumstances, veteran Paul Papp, the author of the “wolves” goal in Giulesti, was asked if the heavy names in the locker room are “at odds” with coach Eugen Neagoe. The centre-back denied there was any conflict, but his statements suggest there was some difference of opinion:

“It's not true. We're already 35-36 years old. Arguing with the coach… It's pointless. After all, you know how it is, the coach is right.

There is no conflict. It was a worse, nastier time, but we managed well.

We were aware that the positive results would come and here they came. Things are relatively normal, morale is good because in the last 3 games we haven't lost.

And we played two good teams, who are fighting for the championship. We hope to keep it that way, to remain modest, as before, and to save ourselves from relegation”.

Regarding the match with Rapid, Papp said:

“We're happy that we didn't lose. It's very important for us, for morale. A difficult game, in second place, and I think we played a solid, good game. We could have won, we could have lost, but in the end it worked out well for us.

I'm happy that I helped my team, but much happier for the result. I prepared the game well and speculated in the fixed phase”.
