Iran attacked with drones. The tankers caught fire [WIDEO]

The most serious situation was reported in Bahrain, where missiles hit fuel tanks in Muharraq province, near the international airport. The local Ministry of the Interior called on residents of nearby towns to stay at home and seal their windows due to the thick smoke. The ministry also announced the arrest of four people on charges of espionage for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In Dubai, a drone hit a residential building, causing a fire that was quickly brought under control. The Ministry of Defense of Saudi Arabia announced that it shot down 18 enemy drones targeting, among others, into the eastern oil fields.

There is also unrest in Iraq, where US military bases and the headquarters of the pro-Iranian Popular Mobilization Forces have been targeted, where at least 10 people were killed as a result of an airstrike.

Attacks also occurred in waters near Iraq. The recordings that appeared on the Internet show huge clouds of smoke and fire. Reuters reports that two tankers burst into flames. In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil said it was a “worrying signal of growing tension in the region.”

Farhan al-Fartousi, who is the director of the Iraqi Ports Management Company, told CNN that the rescued crew members were not Iraqi citizens, but did not specify their nationality. In turn, Indian media report that an Indian citizen was killed in an attack on one of the tankers.

Iran has already admitted to the attack and allegedly carried out it using two underwater drones.

The situation in the waters in the Persian Gulf region is becoming increasingly tense. The British organization UKMTO reported on Thursday morning that another container ship had been hit by an “unknown missile”. The incident occurred approximately 35 nautical miles from the port of Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates, CNN reported, without revealing further details.

Faced with the ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabian authorities have begun an operation to redirect maritime trade to their western ports on the Red Sea.

In turn, the AP agency reported that the Japanese-flagged container ship One Majesty was damaged during a stop in the Persian Gulf. The crew reportedly felt the shock and then discovered damage, which, however, was not severe enough to render the ship inoperable.

The Saudi army intercepted drones attacking an oil field

Reuters reported that the Saudi Arabian army intercepted Iranian drones attacking the Shaybah oil field, located near the border with the United Arab Emirates, on the night from Wednesday to Thursday.

Oil is extracted from the Shajbah field by Saudi Aramco. A few years ago, this field was already attacked from the air by Yemen's Houthi separatists – supporters of Iran, which Tehran finances and equips.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense added that the army also intercepted missiles fired at Prince Sultan Air Base, located in Al-Kharj province, south of the capital, Riyadh.

Drone attacks on Kuwait airport

On Thursday morning, there was also information about an attack by several drones on the international airport in Kuwait. The information was reported by the national news agency, citing civil aviation authorities.
