According to the gardener, after harvesting, apples should be left for two weeks in a cool place so that they adapt. During this time, fruits that are unsuitable for storage will begin to rot and will need to be thrown away.
The remaining apples should be placed in plastic or wooden boxes, covering the bottom with paper towels.
“During storage, apples continue to ripen, and condensation may appear. Wet apples quickly begin to spoil, and to prevent this from happening, paper towels are placed at the bottom of the boxes – they absorb moisture, and the fruits remain dry,” the blogger explained.
Context
Before storing apples, you need to sort them out and carefully put them in boxes in two layers – if there are more apples, they will begin to spoil faster. The air temperature in the room where apples are stored should be about +5 °C.
