The Krasnoyarsk Territory topped the anti-rating for the number of cyber attacks in Siberia

The MTS digital ecosystem, based on RED Security data, summed up the results of a study of DDoS attacks for 2025. The number of cyber threats in the Siberian Federal District almost tripled during this period, with organizations in the Krasnoyarsk Territory most often under attack.

Last year, more than 5.5 thousand DDoS attacks were repelled in Siberia, which is 10% of all incidents in the country. This is 2.7 times more than in 2024. The leader in the number of attacks was the Krasnoyarsk Territory, followed by the Tomsk Region and Altai.

Most often, hackers attacked the IT sector, industry and housing and communal services. As RED Security experts explain, interest in IT is explained by the scale of the possible consequences – failure of services affects a large number of residents. The appearance of housing and communal services on the list of targets may indicate that hacktivists are looking for vulnerable areas with a low level of protection.

The most powerful attack in the region occurred in May – its power reached 384 Gbit/s. The longest lasted more than three days in a row in July. The peak of hacker activity occurred in May and June, which experts attribute to political motivation – attacks often intensify before major public holidays.

In just one year, MTS services repelled more than 186 thousand attacks. Hacker activity increased 2.7 times, and the number of DDoS attacks on regions doubled.
