I poured boiling water over 2 bags and the pan was like new: no grease or soot

Regular black tea, which can be found in any kitchen, can work wonders on burnt dishes. This natural and safe method effectively removes even old carbon deposits – without aggressive chemicals and extra effort.

Why does tea work? Scientific explanation

The effectiveness of tea is due to its unique biochemical composition:

  • Tannins (up to 30%) – create a slightly acidic environment (pH 4.5–5.5), which destroys polymerized fats.
  • Theobromine is a natural emulsifier that separates carbon deposits from the surface of metal or ceramics.
  • Organic acids (malic, oxalic, citric) – dissolve mineral deposits and limescale.

Laboratory studies confirm: at a temperature of 95 °C, the cleaning ability of tea infusion increases by 3–4 times compared to room temperature.

Step-by-step instructions with scientific basis

Step 1: Preparing the solution

For 1 liter of water, use 2 bags of unflavored black tea. This concentration provides the optimal tannin content – 1.2–1.5 mg/ml, sufficient for the breakdown of fats.

Step 2: Thermal Activation

Fill the bags with boiling water (95–100 °C) – at this temperature maximum extraction of active substances occurs.
To enhance the effect, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda: it creates an alkaline environment, which, in combination with the acids of the tea, triggers a microbubble reaction, accelerating the separation of contaminants.

Step 3: Hold Time

Leave the dishes with the solution for 6–8 hours (can be left overnight). During this time, key processes occur:

  • tannins penetrate into the soot structure;
  • theobromine emulsifies fats;
  • organic acids dissolve mineral inclusions.

Final stage

After soaking, drain the solution, and easily remove the remaining softened carbon deposits with a soft sponge. Almost all dirt comes off on its own, without requiring scrapers or friction.

Advantages of the method

  1. Safe – no toxic fumes or harm to skin.
  2. Eco-friendly – no plastic packaging for household chemicals.
  3. Affordable – the ingredients are in every home.

Black tea transforms from a drink into a powerful cleanser, proving that sometimes the best solutions are the simplest. Try it and your dishes will shine again without chemicals!
