From the terrace of Villa Riccucci you can see the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. We are in Civitavecchia, the city with historical resonances mentioned in the play “Holiday Game” by Mihail Sebastian.
And we're an hour from Rome, but Villa Riccucci, the work of architect Alfiero Antonini (1935-2024), could be anywhere in prosperous Europe. Her modernist style, inspired by Gaudi, is universal.
The house has 938 square meters, 23 rooms, basement, ground floor and first floor, garden, swimming pool and garage of almost 100 square meters.
Beyond the numbers, Villa Riccucci catches your eye with its natural lines and flowing arches. In June 2024, Lidia Negoiță bought Villa Riccucci for 1,886,000 euros by bank transfer, write investigative sites Snoop and Public Record, which worked together for this disclosure.

Lidia Negoiță declared to the authorities that she lives in Italy and that Villa Riccucci will be her main residence. As a result, he benefited from a tax exemption of 487,000 euros.
In January 2025, Ilie Negoiță, Lidia's husband, bought the Ideale restaurant by the sea, near the villa. The price is 950,000 euros.
Lidia Negoiță, 78 years old, is the mother of Robert and Ionuț Negoiță. Ilie Negoiță is Lidia's husband and the father of two well-known brothers in politics and business in Romania.
Robert Negoiță is the Mayor of District 3 of the Capital. Ionuț Negoiță is a businessman, real estate developer in the sector run by his brother.
Associates in 16 companies
The two Romanian buyers from Italy, Ilie and Lidia Negoiță, paid 2.8 million euros for the two properties, according to documents obtained by the Snoop and Public Record investigative newsrooms.
Ilie and Lidia Negoiță were directly associated in 16 companies. 14 of the companies appear in a file opened at the DNA and classified after 11 years, with part of the prescribed facts. Four companies have been on trial for 6 years for tax evasion in another case at the Bucharest Court.
“The restaurant is part of the city's history”
When the Italian journalist who collaborated with Public Record and Snoop visited the city in mid-February, the only one under renovation was the villa. Her gate has been changed and the name “Lidia N” appears on the mailbox. The restaurant is closed.
“It was, for decades, one of the most popular destinations for seafood until it closed four years ago. It had a capacity of 300 seats, with an indoor space in the basement and an upper level with a view of the sea. It is part of the history of Civitavecchia. Almost everyone here has passed through it at least once,” said Sara Avolio, a barista at a cafe in the city.
The mayor of Civitavecchia, Marco Piendibene, knows the mayor of Sector 3 in Bucharest, Robert Negoiță. Marco Piendibene was in Romania. And he stayed at the hotel of the Negoiță brothers.
