Trump explains what he means by “unconditional surrender” required from Iran

That same day, Trump posted a message on his Truth Social social media account saying he would not support any deal with Iran short of Tehran's “unconditional surrender” and called for “Make Iran Great Again.”

Trump later explained that it was more about the complete destruction of the regime's military capabilities: by “unconditional surrender” he means a state where Iran's leaders either announce their own surrender or are no longer able to fight due to a lack of resources and capabilities for war.

White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt clarified that by “unconditional surrender” the Trump administration understands a situation where Iran can no longer pose a threat to the United States and American troops in the Middle East. Previously, it also identified the main US goals in this operation, including the destruction of the Iranian fleet, the elimination of the ballistic missile threat, the prevention of nuclear weapons and the weakening of Iran's regional proxy groups.
