The main reasons for the definitive ending of production were given a rapid increase in the costs of energy, raw materials and packaging. In addition, cooperation with one of the largest clients has ended. The production plant in Grödig turned out to be too large and expensive. The company has a debt of EUR 7.7 million.
The problems of the famous Austrian production plant began for good in 2020. As “Bild” reminds, in addition to chocolates, wafers and bars, the Salzburg Schokolade assortment also included semi -finished products (kuxtuts, fat glaze, nugats) under the known brand of Nordpol. However, a large order was canceled during the pandemic and there was a serious deficiency of tourists and all kinds of celebrations at which sweet snacks were consumed. In addition, stores in Vienna and Salzburg were closed for many weeks.
