The period of maximum tick activity in Siberia will last until mid-June, TASS reports citing infectious disease specialist at the Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies of Novosibirsk State University Yulia Ermolaeva.

Despite the temporary lull due to cold weather, tick activity will resume with the arrival of warm weather, the doctor said.

“The first peak, the most massive and dangerous, begins when the earth warms up to plus 5 degrees. In Siberia, this is usually April-May, and the peak itself occurs at the end of May – mid-June,” said Yulia Ermolaeva.

Let us remind you that last week in the Krasnoyarsk Territory registered the first cases of tick-borne infections. Acaricidal treatments already carried out on an area of 377 hectares.
